Water proofing methods vary depending on the extent of damage to the terraces.

9.1 Water proofing of terraces where only top portion is damaged :

Step 1 : Break unsound existing top layer.

Step 2 : Clean and compact brick bat coba.

Step 3 : Level it using mortar 1 :3 ( cement : sand ) mix and cure it.

Step 4 : Make polymer modified mortar using 1 kg cement + 3 kg of sand +1 kg of RESIKON 800 ( flexible polymer) using electrically operated mixer.

Step 5 : Apply polymer cement slurry using brush on the entire surface. RESIKON 800 modified mortar being flexible will take care of dimensional variation caused by atmospheric temperature variations. The layer should be around 5 mm thick.

Step 6 : Apply second coat of polymer modified mortar, if required.

Step 7 : Lay 20 mm screed having 5-10 % of RESIKON 400 in cement mortar.

Step 8 : Apply seal coat of RESIKON 400 + cement (1 :1).

Step 9 : Cure using water fog or damp gunny bags.

Step 1 : Clean the surface with wire brush or air jet.

Step 2 : Consolidate unsound grains of mortar by using diluted flexible acrylic ‘RESIKON FLEXISEAL “ ( 1 part of RESIKON FLEXISEAL + 2 parts of water)

Step 3 : Allow this consolidating coat to penetrate inside the cracks.

Step 4 : Apply single pack ready to use RESIKON FLEXISEAL using metal putty or wet fingers. ENSURE THAT THE CRACKS ARE FILLED COMPLETELY.

Step 5 : Allow it to dry.

Step 6 : For better protection against rain apply a coat of RESIKON POLYPROOF + cement (white or OPC ) with ratio of 1:1.

Note : Crack filling operation should be carried out during afternoon or evening to avoid to sudden water evaporation.

Step 1 : Open the existing cracks in V shaped groove preferably electrically operated culler.

Step 2 : Clean surface thoroughly with air or water air jet.

Step 3 : Apply consolidating coat using polymer RESIPOLYPROOF + cement (1:1 )

Step 4 : While consolidating coat is wet fill the cracks with two components RESIKON CFC (Mix component A 7 kg powder with component B 3kg polymer with a mechanical mixer ) using patra, a trowel

Step 5 : Finally apply with patra RESIKON FLEXISEAL in the cracks and level it. This last filling of RESIKON FLEXISEAL will take care of some dimensional variation caused by atmospheric temperature changes.

Step 6 : For better protection against rain apply a coat of RESIPOLYPROOF and CEMENT (1:1 ). Note : Crack filling operation should be carried out during the afternoon or evening to avoid sudden water evaporation.
Step 1 : Remove damaged concrete and clean with air pressure.

Step 2 : Remove loose rust from reinforcement by brush.

Step 3 : Apply to the rusted steel AMCOR RR
OR Apply to the rusted steel RESIKON RSK. The colour of steel will turn blue or bluish black ensuring the chelation reaction with iron and rust has taken place. If RESIKON RSK is used directly go to step 5.

Step 4 : After 24 hrs. of application of AMCOR RR apply RESIKON COASTAL + CEMENT (1:1 ) slurry.

Step 5 : On the damaged surface apply BOND COAT of RESIKON 400 + CEMENT (1:1).

Step 6 : Fix water tight shuttering.

Step 7 : Simultaneously prepare microconcrete by mixing RESIKON EMCRETE (1 kg of RESIKON EMCRETE + 125 gm of water ) in a mechanical mixer.

Step 8 : Pour the RESIKON EMCRETE slurry.

Step 9 : After 24 hrs. remove shuttering and carry out moist curing.

Grouting is most prevalent technique used for repairing cracks, reducing porosity, in foundation and strengthening the segment.

Step 1 : Identify the area where grouting using injection method is required.

Step 2 : Drill holes to a depth of 6 inches or as required using electrically operated drill machine with a gap of about 1 to 1½ ft. Fix ¼ inch plastic or metal nipples.
